The first major event I attended as an ASBME member was the BIOMED research symposium where four biomedical engineering professors from Viterbi gave presentations about their current research projects. I was intrigued by Professor Zavaleta’s research on functional imaging, and I actually had the chance to talk with her about it. ASBME provides so many opportunities for students to learn about the field of biomedical engineering, and I am excited to help plan more events like the symposium as a freshman representative.
